Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Pedestria (“we”, “us”, or “the app”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Pedestria mobile application and related services at pedestria.app. It reflects current product practices for beta and early releases and may be updated as the service evolves.

Who we are

Pedestria is a walking RPG that turns real-world step counts into in-game progression. Questions about this policy: support@pedestria.app.

Information we collect

• Account information. Sign-in is provided by Clerk. We receive identifiers needed to authenticate you (such as your Clerk user id and email, depending on how you sign in) so we can create and manage your Pedestria account.
• Game data. Character names, progress, inventory, quests, combat history, and related gameplay state are stored on our servers so your adventure persists across devices and sessions.
• Step activity. On iOS we read step counts from Apple Health (HealthKit). On Android we read step counts via Health Connect. We use these counts only to credit in-game progress (travel, activities, crafting buffers, and related systems). Pedestria does not write step or other health data back to Apple Health.
• Device and sync metadata. When you sync steps we may store technical details needed for integrity and debugging (for example device/source labels, sync intervals, and whether certain samples were excluded as user-entered where available).
• Waitlist email (website). If you join the waitlist on our website, we collect the email address you submit for launch updates.

How we use information

• Operate the game and apply step credits and gameplay outcomes on our servers.
• Authenticate you and keep your characters and progress associated with your account.
• Prevent abuse, enforce rate limits and caps, and maintain service reliability.
• Respond to support requests you send us.
• Send waitlist or service communications you opted into on the website.

Health data

Step data is sensitive. We request only the permissions needed to read steps. We do not sell health data. We do not use HealthKit or Health Connect data for advertising. Access can be revoked in your device’s system settings; without step access the game cannot credit new walking progress.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers only as needed to run Pedestria—for example Clerk for authentication and our hosting/database providers for storing game state. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and integrity of the service.

Retention

We retain account and game data while your account is active. Step ingest records and gameplay logs may be kept for integrity, support, and operational purposes. If you request account deletion (see Account deletion), we will delete or anonymize personal data associated with your account according to that process, subject to legal retention needs.

Your choices

• Revoke Health / Health Connect permissions in system settings.
• Sign out of the app at any time.
• Request access, correction, or deletion by contacting support@pedestria.app.

Children

Pedestria is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
